The Vellau Rock Trail is a spectacular high-altitude path that connects Leiter am Waal to Hochmuth.

It is narrow, partially exposed, and requires surefootedness and a head for heights. This hike rewards visitors with breathtaking views of the Adige Valley and surrounding peaks. At the end, you can either take the chairlift down to Dorf Tirol or continue hiking towards Mutspitze and the Spronser Lakes.

End: Hochmuth (mountain station of the Dorf Tirol chairlift)

Hiking Connections
To Algund Waalweg: The Algund Waalweg ends at Gasthaus Leiter am Waal
To Dorf Tirol: From Hochmuth, you can descend by foot or take the chairlift to Dorf Tirol

Public Transport
Outbound: Bus 213 to Algund, then by foot or chairlift to Vellau
Return: Chairlift Hochmuth to Dorf Tirol, then bus 221 to Merano

Difficulty: Medium to difficult (some narrow and exposed sections)
Equipment: Good hiking shoes, surefootedness, trekking poles recommended
